Superbad is a coming-of-age comedy directed by Greg Mottola, following high school seniors Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) on a hilariously awkward quest to impress their crushes, Jules (Emma Stone) and Becca (Martha MacIsaac), before graduation. Determined to make a memorable final night, they set out to score alcohol for a party, but things quickly spiral out of control. Joined by their eccentric friend Fogell, aka McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), they encounter a series of wild misadventures involving two well-meaning but incompetent cops (Seth Rogen and Bill Hader).
Both the beginning and the end of the film feature Culver City prominently. In one of the early scenes, Seth and Evan head to a convenience store which happens to be Overland Mini Mart.
Fun Facts: Michael Cera can be seen all over Culver City in Arrested Development and Bill Hader can be seen in Culver City in Barry.
In the scene below, the guys turn left into the parking lot of Overland Mini Market from Farragut Drive. Fun Fact: This location is next door to the filming location for The Crave Inn from Nightmare on Elm Street 4. If you continue down Farragut Drive, you will also reach the filming location for Debbie’s house from Nightmare, as well.

Evan and Seth exit Overland Mini Market and head south over Farragut Drive. They are confronted by some bullies in the parking lot.
I loved spotting the Culver City Big Green Bus in the background here. I wonder if this was just a coincidence.
In the closing scene of the film, Seth and Evan head to the mall so that Evan can get a new comforter for his college dorm. There they run into Jules and Becca. After an awkward converastion, the two guys part ways to be with their respective love interests.
The mall in the scene is Fox Hills Mall in Culver City. Plenty of movies and TV shows are shot at the mall. Fun Fact: The escalator they ride down at the film’s end can also be seen in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Superbad was a fun rewatch, made even better by all the great shots of Culver City. I hope you enjoyed the post!
