For Your Consideration is a satirical comedy directed by Christopher Guest, following the behind-the-scenes chaos of an indie film production as rumors swirl about potential Oscar nominations for its cast. The movie stars Catherine O’Hara, Parker Posey, Harry Shearer, John Michael Higgins, and Eugene Levy, among many other familiar faces from Guest’s ensemble. As the actors and crew get caught up in the awards buzz, egos inflate and the absurdities of Hollywood are put on full display.
While it’s a few notches below Guest’s genius effort, This is Spinal Tap, it’s still a lot of fun. I especially enjoy John Michael Higgins as Corey Taft and Jane Lynch as Cindy, a team of “Entertainment Tonight”-like announcers that revel in Hollywood Schadenfreude.
Much of the film is shot in Culver City, with Culver Studios set as the location of the film within a film, Home for Purim (or should I say, Home for Thanksgiving). Catherine O’Hara’s character, Marilyn Hack, can be seen enterting the studio in the film’s opening credits.
Marilyn Hack also lives in the neighborhood of Carlson Park at 4215 Madison Ave. This is revealed when Corey Taft goes to interview Marilyn at her home in her lowest moment.
Below is a clip of the scene filmed at 4215 Madison Ave in Culver City, CA.
